Fearless Fig x Farmer’s Footprint

One of the most powerful microbiome disruptors is increasingly hard to avoid....

Pesticides (specifically glyphosate)

As our farming industries have changed, the reliance on pesticides has started to damage our soil and ultimately our health. Independent research from private laboratories and universities around the world, are implicating glyphosate – the active ingredient in the herbicide Roundup.

Even if you are buying organic, you are not necessarily getting glyphosate free food. Often times organic farms are right next to conventional ones and chemical compounds can easily spread to the organic crops. It is also being found in higher levels in our rain water and drinking water.

I realize that no matter how hard I work to help people rebuild healthy gut microbiomes, if I am not focusing my energy on supporting regenerative farming, we can only get so far.

Moving forward I am donating 1% of all monthly total revenue from Fearless Fig towards @farmersfootprint - a coalition of farmers, educators, doctors, scientists, and business leaders aiming to expose the human and environmental impacts of chemical farming and offer a path forward through regenerative agricultural practices.

Our planet deserves better and our health depends on it.

If you are also concerned about farming and our environment please check out this organization. I am feeling hopeful that things can get better and we can make positive changes for our future.

Farmer's Footprint addresses systemic change and scalability challenges facing our food and agriculture systems. They focus on 3 pillars:

  • Awareness: Storytelling builds bridges. Their coalitions are catalysts toward change.

  • Education: Expanding regenerative learning opportunities.

  • Economics: Financial incentives that support regenerative land management.

Regenerative agriculture focuses on rebuilding organic matter and living biodiversity in soil, which produces increasingly nutrient-dense food year after year — while rapidly sequestering excess atmospheric carbon underground to reverse climate change.

It brings proven results for farmers to have a profitable business and livelihood. Conventional inputs become unnecessary, increased organic matter in the soil brings insect biodiversity which helps manage pest pressure and the end market for organic crops increases the overall value of their crop making product value the priority over the conventional method of purely valuing yield.
